2006 Chianti Classico Casasilia

The 2006 Chianti Classico Riserva Casasilia is a very serious wine that captures the essence of this important Tuscan vintage. Here the Sangiovese gives the wine a sense of verve and cut that stands apart from the softer, more overt wines the estate makes from international grapes. All of the elements come together beautifully in the glass. Ripe, racy dark fruit, sweet French oak, licorice, flowers and tobacco are some of the nuances that emerge from the Casasilia. The perfumed, floral finish adds a measure of freshness to the long, firm finish. Though delicious today, the 2006 Casasilia will be even better in a few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2026.
