Score 86/100 · Drink 1997-2005, Robert Parker, Feb 1997

As readers may have surmised from previous comments regarding Clos Fourtet, this estate is quickly emerging from a moribund period. It is a St.-Emilion to keep an eye on. A fine effort for the vintage, Clos Fourtet's 1993 exhibits a dense ruby/purple color, and attractive black-cherry aromas intermingled with scents of minerals and wood. The wine reveals some of the vintage's herbaceousness, but it is not annoying given the velvety texture and fleshy, sweet fruit. The wine's low acidity and forward character suggest drinking it now and over the next 7-8 years.
