Tasting notes
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon brings a touch more intensity, with beautiful black fruits, black olive, iron, and cedar pencil aromatics. It's concentrated, medium to full-bodied, and has riveting purity and precision, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It's one seriously brilliant Cabernet Sauvignon that readers can drink today or cellar for 2+ decades. The blend is 97.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, aged 22 months in 48% new French oak.

After swooning over the 2018 version, I was entirely prepared to fall in love with the Barretts's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon. Scents of loamy earth, vanilla and black cherries appear on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is supple, almost creamy, then rich, long and velvety on the finish. Somehow, it wasn't as exciting as I was anticipating, but that's what happens sometimes when expectations are high. It's still an excellent wine I'd be very happy to drink.
