Tasting notes
Here is an upfront, immediate but beautifully balanced Barolo. The 2012 Barolo Villero is a seamless and well-managed wine with delicate highlights of spice, pressed flower, tar and licorice. The Villero cru shows extra power and density in this vintage. The wine wraps thickly over the palate with power and firmness.

The 2012 Barolo Villero is one of the better wines in the range. Floral, silky and expressive, the Villero captures the early appeal of the vintage nicely. Medium in body, lifted in style, the 2012 is impeccable in its overall balance. I very much like the sense of freshness here. The 2012 should drink well for the next decade plus.
Castiglione Falletto. Just mid ruby with orange tinges. Reluctant to open up. Only mid weight, lifted and nervy. Seems almost a little bit lightweight. (WS)
Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Slightly dusty nose at the moment with just a hint of dried fruit. Lovely vibrant acidity on a ripe fruit palate that is elegant and playful. Coating tannins. (WS)
