Tasting notes
The 2012 Garnacha de Fuego offers straightforward, simple, but delicious cherry fruit intermixed with notions of loamy soil, pepper and earth. Drink it over the next several years. The Calatayud winery is owned by importer Jorge Ordonez. The major grape is Grenache, and all the Breca vineyards were planted between 1925 and 1968. These three offerings are all 100% old vine Grenache. Importer: Jorge Ordonez Selections,Dedham, MA; tel. (781) 461-5767: email:corporate@jorgeordonez.com

Bright purple. Ripe dark berries and cracked pepper on the nose. Smooth and broad on entry, then tighter in the mid-palate, offering tangy blackberry and bitter cherry flavors and a hint of licorice. Sweeter on the finish, with the cherry and licorice notes echoing. This is an amazing value.
