Score 87/100 · Drink 1994-2004, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
The 1989 appeared to be somewhat simple compared to its two siblings. It is medium to full-bodied, with ripe, rich fruit, enough acidity to provide uplift, and a fleshy finish. It should drink well for another decade. Last tasted 11/94

Deep, smoky aromas of dried apricot and peach. Sweet and moderately viscous in the mouth, with lively acidity and a silky texture. But a wine of very good rather than outstanding flavor intensity. Finishes spicy and resiny, with decent length.
