Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2005
Good bright ruby-red. Fresh aromas of red- and blackcurrant, plum, coffee and gunflint. Sweeter and livelier than the 2002 Crozes-Hermitage Cuvee Christophe, with nicely concentrated, riper flavors of blackberry, pepper and spicy oak. Here the tannins are finer, and there's more finishing sweetness. A fresh wine with a strong granite character; should be flexible at the dinner table. Desmeures left out the grapes from Rocoules, which normally account for about 25% of this blend, because they were too large.
