Middling purple. The bouquet is discreet but there is quite a weight of dark fruit on the palate. It is lively enough too, with the fruit now winding its way through the mouth in serpentine fashion.

The 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Serpentières 1er Cru contains just 10% whole bunch. This has a light nose with dark berry fruit, autumn leaves and a touch of black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. Tea leaves and white pepper infuse the red berry fruit, segueing into an elegant and pure finish. This is very fine.
