Tasting notes
Pale to medium garnet-tawny in color, the 2011 Fortification slips sensuously out of the glass with fragrant scents of candied violets, rose hip tea, fallen leaves, powdered cinnamon and fenugreek over a core of stewed plums, fig paste, blackberry compote and blackcurrant cordial plus a waft of Sichuan pepper. The palate delivers wonderfully ethereal floral notions juxtaposed by rich, sweet black fruit layers and framed by a satiny texture, finishing with a persistent perfumed lift.
