I enjoyed Marcarini's two 1993 Barolo offerings. The 1993 Barolo Brunate is as sweet as La Serra, but comes across as denser, more structured, and tannic, even though it is relatively accessible. The wine possesses a deep garnet color with more ruby hues, an earthy, cherry-scented nose, and lush, medium to full-bodied, spice-driven flavors. It should evolve and perhaps improve for up to a decade. Importer: Empson, USA, Alexandria, VA; tel. (703) 684-0900
