Tasting notes
Philippe Jouan works four parcels across three village Morey-Saint-Denis vineyards, all of which go into this bottling: Les Cognées, Les Pertuisées and Corvée Creunille. This is a juicy and vibrant village Morey, full of bright cherry and raspberry fruit. This is crunchy and mouth-watering, with fresh acidity that balances the wine’s fleshiness. There’s also a satisfying savoury edge here – an iron-like firmness that grounds the fruit. Pleasing.

Strawberry nose but pools and pools of cherry juice in the mouth. Brimming with cherry juice. Absolutely saturated. You’d almost want to drink this now! Liquorice-laced tannins running tiny zigzags through the fruit, teasing the acidity into Catherine wheels. Scrumptious. Outrageously mouth-watering. This is ridiculously good. (TC)
About the producer

The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
