The 2019 La Patache exhibits aromas of cherries, ripe berries, violets, rich spices and dark chocolate, followed by a full-bodied, velvety and seamless palate that's rich and fleshy, with broad shoulders and a powerful, gourmand profile. This derives from holdings in three sectors: one defined by iron-rich gravels, another by deep, well-drained gravels and the third by soils richer in clay. It's part of Peter Kwok's right bank portfolio.
The 2019 La Patache has a generous bouquet that needs some time to coalesce in the glass. A bit smudged at first, it gradually musters more delineation, revealing mulberry, undergrowth and slightly mushroom-like aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with quite a sharp entry, that bitter finish rather accentuated since its showing from barrel, prompting me to be more prudent with my score. I left the sample for a couple of hours to see if there was any improvement, but it never quite developed the flesh on the finish that I was expecting.
