Score 89/100 · Drink 2016-2021, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2017
The 1996 Barolo has held up beautifully. Although the aromatics are now fully tertiary, there is enough body and fruit for the wine to drink well for at least another few years. Black cherry, plum, worn-in leather, smoke and licorice give the wine much of its dark profile, an impression that is reinforced by firm, muscular tannins. This is an impressive showing for a straight Barolo at twenty years of age, to say the least.
