2018 Pouget

Tasted blind. Light nose. And pretty chewy! A bit hollow. (JR)

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Pouget rolls effortlessly out of the glass with open-knit notes of crushed red and black currants, juicy black berries and bay leaves, plus suggestions of lavender and ground cloves. The medium-bodied palate delivers a nice burst of red and black fruits with loads of herbs sparks and a slight chewiness to the texture, finishing savory.

The 2018 Pouget, which has been on a good run of form recently, has ample blackberry and raspberry fruit on the nose, touches of potpourri and peony emerging with time and rendering this Margaux quite floral. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and well-judged acidity. Quite spicy toward the finish, revealing white pepper and just a very slight garrigue and brown spice note. Yep, this’ll do nicely.
