Aromas of plums, licorice, dark wild berries and spices preface the 2017 Chinon Coteau de Noiré, a medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless wine with a deep core of fruit for the vintage framed by structured tannins and a long, gently firm finish. Despite menthol notes in the aftertaste, it has a more austere, brooding character than the 2018 or the 2016.
