Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2017-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Oct 2014

The 2012 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatières has a more reserved bouquet, but there is more breeding here compared to the Champs Canet with engaging cold stone, Alpine streams and citrus lemon scents. The palate is well balanced and a little fatter on the entry, a little peachy with apricot coming through the Condrieu-like finish. This could turn out to be a Folatières with substance.

Captivating nose combines peach, fresh apricot, smoke and minerals; began with a slightly high-toned, almost viognier-like quality but calmed down in the glass. Smoky, rich and deep, offering a sexy combination of creamy texture and nervous energy. This rich, full Folatieres really stains the palate, with the wine's relatively high volatile acidity (0.65) drawing out the finish and leaving the mouth perfumed.
