Score 90/100 · Drink 2022-2032, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Sep 2022
On the nose, this 2019 Aerope Grenache shows the sunshine and the heat of the 2019 vintage in the Barossa (and McLaren Vale too). In the mouth, this is savory, meaty and earthy with currants, Christmas spice, licorice, aniseed and lamb fat. At 15.5% alcohol, the warmth plumes through the finish and distracts from the purity of the fruit. The tannins through the finish are chewy and grippy and are there by virtue of the skins, and the oak too. The oak is prominent currently, so give it some time to settle.
