Tasting notes
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Vixen Block Wildfoote Vineyard was aged for 19 months in French oak barrels, 100% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it opens with savory notes of sautéed herbs, black olives and beef drippings over a core of warm blackberries, blackcurrant jelly and wild blueberries with a waft of garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, finely crafted and elegant in the mouth with fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, it finishes with fantastic energy and length. 400 cases were made.

From a site in Stags Leap, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vineyard Vixen Block is another full-bodied, seamless wine from Bevan that shines on all accounts. Lots of blue fruits, violets, chocolate, and flowery incense notes define the bouquet, and it’s incredibly layered and polished on the palate, with silky tannins. I finished my note with “Love it.”
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Wildfoote Vineyard Vixen Block is one of the most complex wines in the entire range. Red fruit, iron, mint, rose petal, spice and blood orange give the 2018 a real feeling of exotic beauty. Each taste reveals a new facet. Time in the glass brings out the wine's striking aromatic presence and overall intensity.
