Score 88/100 · Drink 2018-2021, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Sep 2018

Smelling like iodine, crushed rocks and violets, the 2015 IGP Cotes Catalanes les Calcinaires sends a maelstrom of conflicting but intriguing olfactory signals. It's a medium-bodied blend of 50% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache and 10% Carignan from relatively young vines (12-20 years old), raised predominantly in tank. It's got a silky but firm texture and leathery, savory, more-ish flavors, but I have concerns about its long-term future. I would drink it over the next few years.
