Deep violet color. Blueberry, black raspberry, cola, potpourri and exotic spices on the highly fragrant nose. Offers energetic, palate-staining red and blue fruit preserve, spicecake and floral pastille flavors that convey a suave blend of depth and vivacity thanks to a core of juicy acidity. Finishes very long and smooth, with resonating blue fruit and spice notes and well-judged tannins adding shape and closing grip. Made with two-thirds whole clusters.

From a single lieu-dit on this famed, south-facing hillside, the 2019 Côte Rôtie Fongeant is 100% Syrah that was 30% destemmed and aged two years in larger barrels. Classic Côte Rôtie black raspberry and darker berry fruits as well as flowery incense, pepper, iron, and violet notes all emerge from the glass, and this builds nicely with time in the glass, offering medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful tannins, and just a flawlessly balanced, seamless, concentrated, yet elegant style that's a thrill to drink. It will keep for 15 years or more.
