Tasting notes
The Tenuta di Trinoro 2021 Campo di Tenaglia (made with 100% Cabernet Franc) is very rich and ripe with an almost granular feel that underlines the fruit weight, opulent aromas and the 15.5% alcohol content found within. Despite all that upfront intensity, the mouthfeel is just slightly tapered on the mid-palate. This gives the wine a slightly, ever so slightly, leaner texture.

Trinoro’s 2021 Campo di Tenaglia is insanely beautiful. Rich, deep and ample, the 2021 exudes character from start to finish. Macerated black cherry, espresso, licorice, incense and chocolate all build in the glass, but it is the wine’s screaming Cabernet Franc character that really steals the show. The long, substantial finish makes it impossible to resist a second taste, and then a third. This 0.8-hectare parcel at 1,700 feet in elevation planted on crumbled limestone and clay yields a Franc of world-class complexity and pedigree. It is one of the most hauntingly beautiful, riveting wines I have tasted in some time. Don’t miss it!
