Parusso's 2013 Barolo Mosconi presents thick waves of darkness and thickness that wash over the senses. This is a firm and tightly structured wine that reveals an immovable series of hearty flavors, including Morello cherry, pipe tobacco, black licorice, truffle and moist earth. The Mosconi cru is located in Monforte d'Alba, which is known for power and nuanced delivery. This wine offers unique hints of dried rosemary and crushed mineral as well.

The 2013 Barolo Mosconi is the most masculine of these Barolos. A wine of weight and gravitas, the Mosconi offers notable power from start to finish. Black cherry, chocolate, dark spice and gravel fill out the wine's broad frame effortlessly. The whole clusters add a measure of aromatic nuance, but the Mosconi lacks some of the freshness of the best wines in this range. There is no shortage of pure power though, that much is evident.
Monforte d’Alba. Tasted blind. Mid ruby with watery orange-tinged rim. Lifted, leafy blackcurrant nose with hints of sweet spice. Sweetly spiced, minty and supple cherry fruit that ends with a bit of astringency. Long, if not very Nebbiolo-like, at least for now. (WS)
