Tasting notes
Peppery roses, dried strawberries and wet stones form a slightly muddled bouquet as the 2020 Etna Rosso Ghiaia Nera opens in the glass. This is soft with a pretty inner sweetness up front contrasted by tart red fruits and sour citrus. It finishes grippy and with tension, ending with a sour berry concentration.

Now part of the Etna DOC, the Tenuta Tascante 2020 Etna Rosso Ghiaia Nera reveals a slightly wild character with forest berry, grilled herb and bitter tea leaf. This entry-level red is lean-bodied with good freshness and silky tannins. Fruit is sourced from the Contrades Sciaranuova, Pianodario and Marchesa, with steep terraced vineyards. This value wine (with 55,000 bottles released) offers a terrific introduction to the exciting wines of Mount Etna in Sicily.
