Tasting notes
The second wine of Château Le Gay, the 2022 Manoir de Gay is 100% Merlot, offering red and black fruits, leafy herbs, chocolate, and spice. Medium to full-bodied, it’s balanced, round, and supple, showing wonderful texture and depth. Aged for 17 months in used barrels, it should drink well for 12-15 years. Total production: 617 cases.

The 2022 Manoir de Gay has a slightly earthy nose at first, opening gradually in the glass with touches of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with a dash of black pepper on the entry, firm tannins and a slightly herbal finish.
Tight tannins, intense spices, fig and baked plum fruits, this struggles to maintain balance.
About the producer

There’s been lots of change at Ch. le Gay since the Parent family arrived in 2002 – with vineyards replanted, the cellars renovated and the winemaking adjusted. No surprise, perhaps, that quality is now higher than ever.
