Matured for one year in concrete tanks, the 2022 Chinon le Domaine is crafted from vines planted on sandy, calcareous soils. Evoking aromas of dark wild berries, spices and smoke mingled with animal notes, it’s juicy and tense with a layered, rather enveloping texture, structured tannins and a firm, almost dry finish.

First tasted in 2024 as an unbottled, unfiltered sample, the finished 2022 Le Domaine is better a year later. It is a rich expression with lots of grip. There's an element of smoky reduction but there are blackberry and savory notes, too. However, this still has a hint of barnyard. It has decent weight, plenty of concentrated tannins thanks to the small-berried season and a continued austerity on the finish.
