Tasting notes
The 2021 Pinot Noir Sous le Chêne emerges from the central portion of the top section of La Côte. Crushed flowers, mint, sage, tobacco, incense, sweet red cherry fruit and bright saline notes are all laced together. Hints of gravel, cured meats and black olive appear later. In this vintage, le Chêne has a Syrah-like savory intensity that is palpable. It is at once deep and compact.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sous le Chêne comes from a single parcel in La Côte, just underneath its iconic oak tree, and was matured in 100% new barrels. Medium ruby in color, it begins with streaks of saline, tobacco and tea leaves, graphite and dried herbs over a core of briary fruits. The medium-bodied palate surprises with its concentrated wild berry fruit and fireworks of fresh acidity, powdery tannins and great detail. It will continue to unwind in bottle over the next 3-5 years and has what it needs for a long life in bottle.
