The 2013 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is showing just as well as the 2011 that I tasted just a few weeks later. Surfeit with tension and mineralité on the nose, this is beautifully focused and more Puligny-like in style than Meursault. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, building in weight towards a very satisfying, slightly oily-textured finish. Difficult not to take another sip of this nectar! Tasted at Cave de Madeleine in Beaune.

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is drinking brilliantly. With aeration, it sheds some vintage-typical exotic notes to reveal aromas of crisp orchard fruit, mandarin oil, wet stones and freshly baked bread. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, it's tangy and concentrated, with a racy spine of acidity and a searingly chalky finish.
