Tasting notes
Jamek's 2022 Ried Klaus Riesling Smaragd pleases with a cool, spicy-stony nose with a certain astringency. Spicy, fresh and savory on the tightly knit palate, it is persistent, intense and powerful or even quite powerful. It has good grip but is also quite filling. Tasted at Schloss Dürnstein, Wachau, in September 2023.

Weissenkirchen. Next to Achleiten and just 25 m from the Danube. Terraced slopes 44–99% with very different subsoil profiles in the upper and lower sites, with generally sandy, stony topsoils. Dusty/stony notes at first, then intense creamy lemon, chewy and rich in texture. A big, rounded, spicy wine with the freshness to cut through. Long and full of fruit. (JH)
