The 2024 Bin 311 Chardonnay leads with toasty notes of pan-roasted dry spices, banana, toasted cashews and white peach. The wine is rich and generous, with a seam of fine, salty acidity that courses through its heart. The fruit is sourced from Adelaide Hills, Tasmania and Tumbarumba, and while the conditions in each of these diverse regions differed somewhat, they were aligned in that it was a high-quality growing season. This is powerful and concentrated, with an attractive mealiness through the finish. It matured for eight months in French oak, 18% new. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

This is a minerally yet generous chardonnay with aromas of struck match, Meyer lemons, Asian pears and white orchard fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with vibrant, striking acidity that carries the underlying power and intensity. Will improve with more time in the bottle. Very good. Drink or hold.
52% Adelaide Hills plus Tasmania and Tumbarumba (sources change every year). Cool vintage generally. Aged for eight months in French oak barriques (18% new). TA 6.4 g/l, pH 3.11. Pale straw. Cool, ‘green’, fresh nose. Lots of acidity and (just) not too austere. Quite chewy on the slightly short finish still. (JR)
The 2024 Chardonnay Bin 311 has wide appeal thanks to its powerful, flinty, expressive aromas of melon and peach skin lifted by overt yet balanced French oak with savory nougat barrel ferment. Its punchy upfront grapefruit flavors are tightly wound, almost explosive and need time to shine. This has standout balance and length, showcasing an exceptional vintage for this label that will age very well.
