2015 Meursault Les Charmes

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes offers up an elegantly leesy nose of ripe pear, kumquat and nutmeg, followed by a medium to full-bodied, succulent palate, with a glossy attack, decent depth, and a delicate, flavorful finish. This Charmes avoids any excess in the 2015 vintage and should offer a great deal of immediate appeal.

Very bright apple fruit, smashing acidic frame and a great deal of punch on the mid palate. Lots of green citrus – if anything, this is less fleshy and mouth-filling than the typical Meursault – but delicious all the same, and very lengthy. (RH)

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes Vignes Centenaires will be bottled mostly in magnums. It has a nicely detailed and minerally bouquet that offers white peach, citrus lemon and granite aromas, later a chunk of fresh pineapple joining the chorus line. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity. This feels saline in the mouth with brown spices and just a touch of licorice developing towards the composed finish that perhaps just lacks that knockout punch that would warrant a higher score.
