Tasting notes
The 2018 Isolation Ridge Riesling is a big wine—powerful and broad shouldered, a child of the warm, superb season. Offering yellow fruits and layers of spice and texture, this is loaded with flavor and extraordinarily long through the finish. There are notes of white pepper, cheese rind, washed linen and dried mandarin. Showing star anise and tarragon, this is exotic as hell, with a gently waxy sway of texture in the mouth. This is opulently styled; the 2018s are ever this way, and yet, I do believe they will also be extraordinarily long lived. This is no exception.

Vivid, green-tinged straw. High-pitched citrus and orchard fruit and honeysuckle scents take on dusty mineral and floral overtones as the wine opens up. Shows strong, chewy tension on the palate, offering juicy pink grapefruit, pear skin and green apple flavors and hints of honeysuckle and succulent herbs. Closes with an emphatically stony flourish on the incisive, impressively persistent finish, which leaves behind echoing citrus fruit and floral notes.
OMG. Incredible complexity on the nose with crushed-stone, slate and lemon character. Some nutmeg and white pepper, too. Full-bodied with a crunchy and creamy palate that highlights the bitter-lemon and mineral flavors. Very, very long. Organic wine. Drink now. Screw cap.
