Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,627 g. 53% Pinot Noir, 47% Chardonnay. Main crus: Trépail, Verzenay, Avenay, Montigny, Chouilly. 100% premier and grand cru. More than nine years sur lattes. Dosage 2.5 g/l. Dusty fragrance, dusty minerality – orris root and iris, dried lavender and dried oregano, the breath of stones. Bone dry, intricate structure triumphing over fruit. Super-fine mousse. You would want to serve this with exceptionally delicate food – Dover sole, perhaps, or savoury silky crab custard. (TC)

Restrained, citrusy and stony, this shines with freshness, showing lime peel, garden peas and chalky minerality alongside salted butter and subtle whiffs of pastry. Light-bodied and zesty with long, fine bubbles. The tense, tight palate is leafy and almost phenolic with grip and substance yet balanced in the mineral finish. Drink or hold.
