Single-vineyard Chardonnay from Ferrari’s first vineyard, surrounded by woods at 600m. Current vintage. Disgorged 2023. 1972 was the debut vintage; it showed that Italian sparkling could be long-aged on lees. Ferrari sold the winery to the Lunellis in 1952 but not the vineyards so the Lunellis started to acquire vineyards. Extra Brut. Dense and serious nose. Dry, almost drying finish. Creamy texture and rather opulent on the way there. Tastes much fresher (and so far possibly less interesting?) than many 2012 champagnes. (JR)

This shows a beautiful bead of bubbles that caress your palate like cashmere. Aromas of cooked apple, sweet pastry dough, almonds and candied lemons. Medium to full body. Delicious fruit and fresh underneath. Aged for about 10 years on the lees. Dry finish. Drink or hold.
