Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2035, Neal Martin, Oct 2025
The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées Clos St. Abdon 1er Cru feels a bit heavy-handed on the nose with the oak a little too overwhelming for the fruit at the moment. Just a bit of pine needle in the background and a touch of lychee. The palate is smooth and creamy on the entry with fine depth, slightly viscous in texture with a ripe slightly tropical finish that you might not expect given the cooler growing season. Probably one of the earlier drinking Chassagne-Montrachets but it still appeals. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
