Score 89/100 · Drink 2004-2014, Robert Parker, Feb 2004
The 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape is a medium to full-bodied, elegant offering exhibiting a plum/ruby color as well as a sweet nose of kirsch liqueur, figs, spice box, pepper, and soy. With outstanding purity, balance, and lushness, it should be consumed over the next decade. By the way, I rated it in the low eighties, but Perrin’s 2002 Chateauneuf du Pape was one of the better 2002s I tasted from this appellation. Importers: T. Edward Wines, New York, NY; tel.
