Tasting notes
Sweet and ripe is the medium to full-bodied 1997 Barolo Mondoca di Bussia Soprana. It offers an excellent smoke, herb, licorice, and kirsch-scented bouquet. Soy and incense also make an appearance in the flavors. The wine is spicy, with low acidity, and noticeable glycerin. This offering is a medium weight, evolved, lush Barolo to drink over the next 6-7 years. Importer: Vinifera Imports, Ronkonkoma, NY; tel. (516) 467-5907

Bright ruby-red. Sappy black cherry, licorice and spice aromas are quite high-pitched for '97. Sweet and chewy in the mouth, with hints of roasted fruits and moderate density. Finishes with a slightly medicinal black cherry character and mounting but rather fine tannins that seem much smoother than those of Oddero 96s.
