Score 94/100 · Drink 2020-2035, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2019

Alexandre Chartogne's NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Chemin de Reims (2012) derives entirely from the 2012 vintage, and it was disgorged in May 2018 with five grams per liter dosage. The lieu-dit boasts iron-rich soils with limestone chunks, and it's mesoclimate is warm and early-ripening thanks to the neighboring houses of the village of Merfy. Offering up aromas of waxy citrus rind, walnut oil and warm brioche, mingled with notions of dried flowers and fruits, it's medium to full-bodied, tightly wound and concentrated, with a muscular, incisive profile, considerable concentration, racy acids and a chalky, sapid finish.
