Tasting notes
The one single-vineyard wine that is very different from the others is the 2019 Finca Los Membrillos, as it comes from a vineyard planted with Cabernet Sauvignon in Altamira two kilometers from the Piedra Infinita property planted 25 years ago. It keeps the herbal, spicy and peppery varietal character and the fine-grained tannins from the property and the chalkiness from the soils. It has 14% alcohol and good freshness, acidity and balance. This comes from four different soils and was co-fermented with some 10% Malbec from the same property, as they feel like that amount of Malbec gives it some lubrication/juiciness. This matured in used 500-liter French oak barrels (the last year they bought barrels was 2013). 5,700 bottles were filled in June 2020.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Finca Los Membrillos from Paraje Altamira, Uco Valley was aged for 12 months in French foudres . Garnet red in the glass. The nose offers notes of blackcurrant, mint and hints of blueberry over a bed of herbs and gentle oaky aromas such as cedar and clove. In the mouth, it has a firm structure and refined tannins that provide flexible support for the nimble freshness and chalky feel. The pyrazine flavors are more prominent in the mouth than the nose because of its youth; the palate will improve in the medium term.
