50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc. Full-on, ripe dark fruit and not a little internationally styled. Concentration of fruit is matched by acidity, but it all seems a little formulaic. Bitter tannins on the finish. (WS)

A blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2011 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera peels back with luscious layers of dark spice, plum and black cherry. Toasted oak notes also play a prominent role on the bouquet and the wine needs more time to fully integrate. The 2011 vintage shows soft, sun-ripened tannins.
