Grown on several of the estate's parcels of old black granite with quartz and schist with some clay. Yields only about 25 hl/ha. Cuvaison in concrete fro 28 days and then kept for 20 months in foudres. Wild yeast. Deep crimson. Like this producer's St-Amour 2016 – not much nose. But lots of substance on the palate – including a pretty noticeable charge of tannin. Youthful wine with a Rhône-like structure. Lots to chew on. It has the freshness of Gamay but is otherwise very unlike archetypal Beaujolais, even a Beaujolais cru. Very vibrant on the very end. Nowhere near ready. (JR)

Deep ruby. A complex bouquet displays ripe dark berry and cherry pie aromas, along with hints of candied violet and peppery spices. Smooth, broad and spicy on the palate, offering sweet blackberry and floral pastille flavors underscored by a zesty mineral element. Subtle tannins come in slowly on the long, smooth finish, which shows excellent clarity and leaves behind sappy dark fruit and allspice notes.
