Tasting notes
Good medium red. Aromas of black cherry, menthol, cedar, tobacco and peppery herbs. Juicy, dry and penetrating, conveying a dried-fruit quality and noteworthy intensity to its savory flavors of cherry, berries, tobacco and cedar. A touch of sweetness is countered by a strong spine of acidity, which ultimately gives the wine a somewhat clenched character. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and building dryness. (13.1% alcohol; 7.2 g/l acidity)

One of the finest examples of the 1982 vintage, this wine has been a reliable performer for over a decade. It is one of only two B.V. Private Reserves made during the decade of the eighties to merit an outstanding rating. The 1982 exhibits a saturated dark ruby color with only slight lightening at the edge. The nose offers copious quantities of sweet, jammy, red and black fruits intertwined with plenty of spicy, toasty new oak. Ripe, full-bodied, opulent, and fleshy, this sumptuously-styled Private Reserve is drinking well. It should continue to mature gracefully for 10-15 years.
