Tasting notes
The 2016 de Lamarque has a pleasant, almost Right Bank bouquet, thanks to the expressive Merlot. The palate is medium-bodied with sour cherry and cedar on the entry. Well balanced and cohesive toward the finish, although this bottle pulled up a little short on the aftertaste and left me wanting more. There are better examples of 2016 de Lamarque out there. Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting.

Tasted blind. Very dark. No nose except for something suspiciously bacterial. Then thick and sweet. Not much fun. No! (JR)
The 2016 Château de Lamarque displays a plump, sexy, forward style as well as beautiful plum and blue fruits and notes of tobacco. With plenty of fruit, medium-bodied richness, and the purity that’s the hallmark of the vintage, drink it any time over the coming 10-15 years.
