Score 93/100 · Drink 2016-2024, Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate, Oct 2016

The 2013 Pinot Noir Three Blocks Spring Ridge Vineyard is another fruit-forward beauty that's overflowing with notions of sweet strawberries, sappy flowers, licorice and dried herbs. Like all of the other releases here, it's layered and balanced on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, plenty of fruit and a great finish. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.

The 2013 Pinot Noir Three Blocks is closest in style to the Upper Picnic. In fact, it is stylistically not that different, it just has more of everything. A rich, phenolic wine, the 2013 offers notable depth, with silky, creamy tannins that wrap around a core of dark red cherry and plum fruit. Today, the 2013 offers notable finesse as well as potential. The Three Blocks is essentially the Pinot that would have been sold under the Neely label, but this last wine is being sold under the Varner label now that the two families have stopped working together.
