Tasting notes
100% Sangiovese. Aged in large Slavonian barrels for 24–36 months. Healthy crimson. Really excellent subtlety. The most subtle wine of the tasting? Beautiful integration. So composed and fresh and very Chianti Classico but this is so ready to drink! Long and appetising. Bravissima! (JR)

Very powerful! Intense and long and powerful. So rich! I can see how it beats Brunello in blind tastings. (JR)
The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva is fabulous. Powerful and classically austere, the 2010 oozes with class. A host of black cherry, plum, licorice, sage and lavender overtones develop with time in a complex wine that is going to need quite a few years to be at its best. The 2010 Riserva will thrill readers who appreciate firm, structured wines built for cellaring.
Castelnuovo Berardenga. Maturing ruby with orange tinges. Complex and ethereal nose, and not a lot of development yet. Beautiful, tactile tannins framing the fruit. Elegant and powerful at the same time. Wonderful balance. Monumental. (WS)
