Score 91/100 · Drink 2025-2037, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2023

The 2017 Grand Cru Muenchberg Riesling opens with an intense, deep, pure and iodine nose that is pretty much developed but still vital. On the palate, this is a rich and complex, tight and expressive as well as expansive Muenchberg Riesling with maturity but also salts, finesse and fine tannins. The finish is long and complex and reveals serious grip and bitters, yet from this bottle, it doesn't stimulate a lot at this stage. Is this the bottle's fault? 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in March 2023.

This promises some really spicy peaches and apricots, though held in in reserve for now. Some wonderful citrus and flinty accents come through. Medium-bodied, but very minerally indeed; this is like licking white stones. The center palate is ever so precise and the finish is long and complex. Drink or hold.
