Pure elegance in the glass, the 2023 Bianco Colore displays notes of freshly sliced nectarine and apricot complemented by white flowers and sweet spice. It envelops the senses with oily textures and masses of mineral-inflected pit fruits, perfectly balanced by a core of brisk acidity. The 2023 reverberates on the palate, blending nuances of ginger and poached pear with a long, lightly structured and impactful finish.

The 2023 Bianco Colore is understated in the glass, wafting up with nuances of Asian pear, chamomile and wet stone. This is seamlessly silken in feel, displaying notable weight and freshness as saline minerals emerge then give way to tart orchard fruits and a slight herbal tinge toward the close. The 2023 tapers off grippy, long and youthfully compact, leaving hints of confectionary spice and apricot to mingle.

Made with the Ansonica grape from a special vineyard site in the Pietrabuona valley on this rustic Tuscan island, the Bibi Graetz 2023 Isola del Giglio Colore Bianco offers a pretty bouquet with peach, orange peel, sea salt and baked apple. The wine is soft and textured with mild acidity. Bibi says he did not experience problems with fungal diseases in 2023 on Giglio island. Those issues were very problematic in the rest of Italy.

Textured and structured, with initially reserved aromatics that, as with last year's vintage, really uncurl after 24 hours in fridge, or at least a good few hours in a carafe. Beautifully layered poached pear and peach pit, sage, dried herbs, white pepper, emphasis less on fruits than minerality and an oyster shell saline finish, with flinty juiciness. Bibi Graetz owner and winemaker, 8ha vineyard.

About the producer

Bibi Graetz

Based just outside Florence, Bibi Graetz is something of a maverick in the Tuscan wine scene. Working with old vineyards of indigenous grapes around Chianti, he produces intense wines classified as IGT Toscana; not fitting neatly in either the Super Tuscan or Chianti camp.
