Tasting notes
The 2001 Vacqueyras Réserve is still alive and kicking. Shimmering pale garnet. It offers a fragrant dried and candied red fruit perfume alongside hints of cured meat and incense. Shitake mushroom and forest floor characteristics gently usher in, complementing the aromatic profile. This 2001 red offers an almost Burgundian level of finesse and dazzles with gorgeously silky tannins. It will easily hold for five more years if stored in a cool cellar.

Deep crimson. Looks and tastes extremely young still. Tight tannins – very chewy even at eight years old. And still with a bit of carbon dioxide dissolved in it. Wait! (JR)
The beautiful, elegant, seductive 2001 Vacqueyras is a serious effort. Its medium ruby color is followed by distinctive kirsch liqueur notes intermixed with freshly ground pepper, licorice, and strawberries. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.
