2002 Certan de May

The deep ruby/plum-colored 2002 offers notes of cigar smoke, cedar, spice box, red currants, and herbs. This pleasant, one-dimensional offering should be drunk over the next 5-7 years. After producing some exceptional wines in the 1980s (1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, and 1982), this property went through an irregular period, but it appears to be making a comeback since Michel Rolland was brought in as a consultant. The first vintage for which Rolland had full responsibility was 2004.
