Tasting notes
Uccelliera's 2016 Rosso di Montalcino is bold, powerful and explosive, with plenty of energy to play off the richness of the year and proprietor Andrea Cortonesi's style. Rose petal, lavender, sage and pine bring out the more Mediterranean side of Sangiovese in the southern reaches of Montalcino. This is such a pretty and expressive wine.

Mid ruby. Focused, cherry fruit-driven nose. Cool cherry fruit palate with plenty of coating tannins. Long and with generous fruit, yet well balanced. (WS)
The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino does a great job of capturing the high quality fruit produced in this classic vintage. A Rosso like this gives us great hope and high expectations for the 2016 Brunellos that will be released in three years' time. Before that date, you can whet your appetite on the bold cherry and luscious primary fruit so beautifully displayed here.
