Tasting notes
Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot which, after having been aged for 16 months in tonneaux, are blended and aged for a further 12 months in bottle. Deep, lustrous ruby. Peppery, concentrated dark-fruit nose with saline hints and liquorice. Supple, red and dark fruit that is completely dry and with grainy tannins. Lots of supple acidity on the finish and defying the torrid 2017 vintage. No huge depth of fruit, if very long. (WS)

The Castello del Terriccio 2017 Tassinaia is Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah with a generous and rich style that speaks of the vintage and the warm growing conditions on the Tuscan Coast. Like many of the other blended red wines from this vintage, I found the tannins to be a bit tight and astringent, although it's not too bad. This expression is built for near and medium-term drinking, maybe with roast pork or lamb.
